DICE Energy & Water

DICE Energy and Water Innovation Center was established in 2014 with the joint collaboration of DICE Foundation and NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi with the support of consortium universities including NED University of Engineering & Technology, Mehran
University of Engineering & Technology, and National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. DICE E&W provides a
platform for Energy and Water related innovations and for collaboration among academia, industry, government, entrepreneurs and expatriates to
integrate science, technology and policy solutions to solve pressing Energy and Water challenges faced by Pakistan. It aims to mobilize Energy and Water Professionals of Pakistani origin around the world, to take advantage of their expertise and experiences for growth of Energy and Water sectors in Pakistan. 

The prime objective of the Innovation center is transforming concept ready innovations, coming universities in Pakistan, into implementation ready and production/market ready products and to help industry in solving their energy and water related issues/problems. The focus is a national interest and on moving the needle and empowering our nation to solve chronic energy and water related issues.

In terms of priority the center focus will be:

  • Transform high potential concept ready ideas into commercial ready products and services in collaboration with ORIC.
  • Provide services to the industry such as:
    • access to the student and faculty for R&D.
    • access to academia resources such as specialized energy software.
    • access to testing facilities.
    • assist industry in efficient energy generation and utilization.
    • Mobilize expatriates for capacity building in various fields of energy.
    • Increase awareness of common consumer for efficient utilization of energy.
    • Provide Pakistani businessmen and entrepreneurs access to international markets, using expatriate network.
    • Act as a think tank to aid Govt of Pakistan in energy policy making.
    • Assisting students for research and development.
    • Maintaining database related to energy production, consumption and conservation.
    • Monitoring renewable energy resource and creating its database.
  • Arrange annual energy/water innovation and entrepreneurship event to exhibit and promote innovative ideas from all over the country.
  • Develop energy/water-literate leaders and communities through workshops, seminars and symposium.
